Sad news - no critters

Not long ago I wrote a piece about finding a good stroller for twins, and Crystal was writing about where to find stuff for the critters. Today there is no need for that. We’ve sat on the news for a few days but it’s time to let the news out - we’re not pregnant anymore. We went for another scan and there are no critters there. Crystal’s been in hospital and done all the procedures and she’s now home again recouperating.

This is one of those things, although however sad it is, that just happens. It’s really not supposed to, but it does. Pregnancy is a game of chance (and risk) and the risk goes up in special cases like ours.

We are doing okay. It will take a while to cope with this, but we’re okay and we’ll move on. To really decide will probably take a few months, but we’ll probably try again at some point.

Finding a stroller for twins

When we first found out we were pregnant there were four little sacks, but the doctor said one was probably not going to develop into anything and a second one was most likely going the same way. But we were faced with the possibility of having four critters. That was a daunting thought, with having to find a car where six of us plus two dogs would fit in, and stroller (or strollers) for all of them.

Now we know there’s two of them, and although there can always be surprises, that’s what we’re working with. Crystal asks me most every day if I’ve looked at strollers yet, and most days I say no, I haven’t.

We’ve seen some strollers for twins but many of them has one seat behind the other (inline), which we don’t like because then they cannot recline. Graco has some nice strollers and you can find them in stores in the UAE, but they are almost all with one seat behind the other.

Others have the seats next to one another (side-by-side) but often the wheels are too small. We want large, robust wheels so we can go with the stroller wherever we want to, and not get stuck in small holes, sand, dirt, etc. For example, the one double-stroller Graco has where the seats are next to one another, the wheels are tiny, so that won’t work for us.

We like the Instep Mall Cruiser which is side-by-side, has large wheels, and a front-wheel that can swivel.

We really like the Kiwi Kid Valco 2005 Twin Runabout Deluxe All-Terrain Stroller and although it’s expensive it seems to be the best we’ve seen so far.

So our research continues…

My first post about critter items…

Magnus says that I should blog more about trying to find critter items here in the UAE. He is probably right, but we do not have to tell him that. :-) I have just started my search here, and not knowing where to find most things, is not helping. The hardest things that I am having trouble with is things for twins, like strollers, portable cribs (pack n play), and etc. So why I do not have any real ideas where I am going to find these things, I am on
the hunt. If we were in the States or in Sweden, I am sure it would be easier, if only because we know more people that would have ideas
where to look. So, as I try to find things I will try to let you know what we find. We have found some little outfits that are really cheap and cute. Clothes here are really easy to find, and you can almost always find a sale somewhere. So I will keep you updated as I find things. :-)

We’re pregnant

Well I guess it would come out sooner or later so we’ll just tell you now (in case you had missed it) - we’re pregnant. It’s now eight weeks and we had a scan today and we have two healthy little critters.

We had the first scan two weeks ago and then three fetuses showed up with a possible fourth one. Today there were two healthy ones and a third empty sack. The two critters are of a good size, their heartbeats are strong and healthy.

So for now it looks like we’re having twins in September.
