Change your clock, oh wait not in the UAE

It seems that every one is turning back their clocks tonight, well not really every one, in the UAE we do not have the changing of the clocks. So for our family and friends in the US you are now 9 hours behind us, and our Swedish family and friends you are 3 hours behind us. That is of course until next spring, when it will change all over again.

Our First Race here in the UAE

Today Magnus and I had a wodnerful time watching one of our EMUGer. He race for the first time, and this morning was the first practice ride. Orman was very nice to show us everything, and even the inside of the car. It was a wondful day out, and the heat was not too bad.

I told Orman and his brother about my Mom touching Jeff “Gordon’s tires, and that he won the race. So Orman had his brother to touch his tires. In that race he came in 4th place, and I remind him about his brother touching his tires. Orman almost jumped up and down for joy, and told Mohammad that he had to touch his tires again, so Mohammad decided to hug them instead. (this when Orman came into second place.) So I guess my Mom has help the brothers, and what they will do between races.

Skype Bans Mean Big Profits For Incumbent Telecoms

Techdirt:

Last week we noted that Jordan had recently banned Skype in what looked like a pretty obvious ploy to aid the country’s incumbent telecom monopoly. Jordan ultimately reversed the ban, but does banning Skype actually have the desired effect? Sadly, it appears it does. In neighboring UAE, the government also banned Skype, much to the chagrin of Dubai’s many ex-pats, and much to the delight of Etisalat, the country’s main telecom operator. Following the ban, Etisalat’s profits jumped dramatically, 41% in the recent quarter. There may be other factors involved, such as the ongoing economic boom in the region. But when you’re selling international calls at $.75/minute, and your competitor that was selling the same thing for $.02/minute gets shut down, it clearly helps.

Remembering Chris

I just want to make a quick note that on Sept. 29th was 10 years since my brother, Chris died.

Words cannot say enough about how much I miss him. Sometimes it seems only like yesterday that we playing around, and had no worries. We lost him way too early.
I wonder what he would be doing now, but I do take comfort in knowing that he is happy and in a better place.

So this post is for Chris, all my family, and friends that I know, miss him as much as I do.

Please know that I take apart of you, no matter where I am.

I Love You,

Your Proud Sister
